Sora is a decentralized, supranational economic system designed to provide an alternative to traditional central banking. Built using the Substrate framework and deeply integrated into the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystems, its primary objective is to create a fair and efficient global economy. The XOR token serves as the native utility and governance asset of the Sora network. A defining feature of XOR is its elastic supply, which is managed by an on-chain computer program known as a token bonding curve. This mechanism allows the supply of XOR to expand or contract based on demand, functioning similarly to a decentralized central bank that maintains economic stability through algorithmic rules rather than human intervention. Governance of the Sora network is managed by the Sora Parliament. This democratic body is responsible for making decisions about the allocation of newly minted XOR toward productive projects. This system is designed to ensure that capital is directed into the hands of producers who contribute to the growth of the Sora economy, rather than being concentrated through traditional financial intermediaries. Central to the Sora ecosystem is Polkaswap, a decentralized exchange and automated market maker. Polkaswap serves as a liquidity hub, allowing users to trade assets from various blockchains, including Ethereum and Bitcoin, through cross-chain bridges. This interoperability is a core component of the project's vision to connect different digital economies into a single, cohesive network. The project is currently evolving from its original architecture into Sora v3, also known as Sora Nexus. This transition involves moving toward a more scalable infrastructure based on Hyperledger Iroha 3, which is intended to support institutional-grade applications and high-frequency transactions. Additionally, the ecosystem includes initiatives like the Sora Card and integrated banking services, which aim to bridge the gap between decentralized finance and traditional payment systems, allowing users to interact with both worlds using their digital assets. By combining macroeconomic theory with blockchain technology, Sora seeks to empower individuals and nations with a transparent, non-debt-based monetary system that promotes global financial inclusion and productivity.
