Decentralized Social, commonly referred to as DeSo, is a specialized Layer 1 blockchain architecture designed to support the scaling and decentralization of social media applications. Other platforms built on DeSo focus on video content, professional networking, and end-to-end encrypted messaging. The native token of the network, DESO, serves as the utility asset that powers the blockchain. It is used to pay for transaction fees and enables unique social features such as social tipping, where users can send micro-contributions to creators they support. The token also facilitates the creation and exchange of social NFTs and creator coins within the various apps.
