Archway is a decentralized, layer-one blockchain platform built within the Cosmos ecosystem. It is designed as an incentivized smart contract chain that focuses on a developer-first economic model. Unlike many other blockchain networks that primarily reward validators or miners, Archway is structured to provide direct rewards to the developers who build and deploy decentralized applications on its network. The project is built using the Cosmos Software Development Kit and the Tendermint consensus engine. This foundation allows it to utilize the Inter-Blockchain Communication protocol, which enables seamless interoperability and asset transfers with other blockchains in the Cosmos network. Archway supports CosmWasm, a specialized runtime for WebAssembly smart contracts, allowing developers to write applications in multiple programming languages such as Rust. A core feature of the Archway protocol is its unique reward system. The network tracks the usage of smart contracts and automatically distributes a portion of network fees, inflation rewards, and optional contract premiums back to the developers. Specifically, developers can receive a share of the transaction fees generated by their applications and a percentage of the newly minted tokens from the network's inflation. This model allows creators to build sustainable revenue streams without relying solely on external venture capital or complex fundraising. These rewards can be used by developers to fund their operations, subsidize gas fees for their users, or provide incentives to their own communities. The native token of the network, known as ARCH, serves several key functions. It is used to maintain network security through a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism, where token holders can stake their assets with validators. ARCH is also used to pay for transaction fees on the network. Furthermore, the token plays a central role in decentralized governance. ARCH holders can participate in the decision-making process by proposing and voting on changes to the protocol, such as adjusting the distribution of rewards or updating network parameters. Archway’s mission is to level the playing field for entrepreneurs and developers globally. By baking financial incentives directly into the protocol's architecture, the network aims to foster a more diverse and self-sustaining ecosystem of applications. It provides a scalable environment where builders are compensated based on the actual value and activity their applications bring to the network, rather than their access to traditional funding sources. This approach encourages the growth of a developer-centric economy within the Web3 space.
